Need some inspiration? Create a story in Projector using one of our professionally-designed templates. Templates are available across all of our story formats. In this article, we'll show you how to select a template and customize it to make it yours.
Finding a template
The Template library is organized by format and use case. Select a category and hover over a template to preview each scene. To select a template or view template details, click on the template directly.
Applying a template
You can start a brand new story with a template, or add specific template scenes to a story you've already started.
To start a new story from a template
Click into a template from the Template library.
Select Use template to get started. This action will take you to the Editor, and automatically apply all of the template scenes to your story.
To start a new story from a template scene
Click on a template from the Template library.
Choose your scene by clicking on the scene directly or pressing Get started at the top right of the scene. This will take you to the Editor, and automatically apply your selected scene to your story.
Click New scene at the bottom left of the Editor to add in other scenes from the same template or change the template to mix and match.
The template icon allows you to find and add new templates or change an existing template at any time. Find this icon in the bottom left of the Editor next to New scene.
Navigating templates in a story
If you start a story with a template, the template is saved to the story and you can easily add more scenes from the template when clicking on New scene.
Switch templates in a story at any time
Click New scene and select Change template, which takes you to the Template menu.
Browse for templates that match your story format.
Once you select a new template, you’ll drop back into the Editor with the option to choose from the scenes of the newly selected template.
When changing templates in a story, selecting a new template will not immediately add all the new scenes into your current story, but instead give you new scenes to select from and apply.
Adding a new scene from a template
To add a new scene from your template, click New scene and select your desired scene.
Adding templates to an existing story
To add a template to a story that has already been created
Click on the template icon in the Editor. This will open the Template menu, showing templates that match your story format.
As you scroll through the Template menu, you can click into the template to preview the scenes.
Select Use template to incorporate that template into your story.
In the Editor, click New Scene to add scenes from the chosen template. You can always go back to the template icon and change the selected template at any time, which will allow you to mix and match multiple templates within one story.
